This fique mochila is the result of using the natural fiber from the agave plant for its production. Fique is a fibrous plant that belongs to the agave family and is mainly found in tropical and subtropical regions of Latin America.

To obtain fique fibers, mature leaves of the agave plant are harvested and the inner fibers are extracted through a process called retting. These fibers are then washed, dried, and spun into threads or cords to make the mochila bags.
